Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqa Jariyah (continuous charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
– Sahih Muslim 1631 –
When someone dear passes away one of the most meaningful ways to honour them is through Sadaqah Jariyah. A donation made in their name creates lasting good for others and its reward continues to reach your loved one in the Hereafter.
You can mention their name in the “Remarks” field under Section 4 of the donation form to make the donation on their behalf.
The mother of Sa`d bin ‘Ubada died in his absence. He said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! My mother died in my absence; will it be of any benefit for her if I give Sadaqa on her behalf?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Yes,” Sa`d said, “I make you a witness that I gave my garden called Al Makhraf in charity on her behalf.”
– Sahih al-Bukhari 2756 –
Sadaqah Jariyah (or Sadaqa Jariya) means “continuous charity.” In Islam, it refers to charitable acts whose benefit remains over a long period of time.
The reward of Sadaqah Jariyah continues for as long as its benefits reach others, whether people, animals, or even nature itself.
Examples include providing access to water, enabling education, planting trees, building homes for families or helping orphans. These actions build foundations that support entire communities far into the future.
The reward continues for as long as people benefit from the donation, even beyond one’s lifetime.
Yes. You can make a donation on behalf of someone who has passed away. Many choose this as a way to honour their loved ones while creating continuous benefit for communities in need.
Whether it is building a water well to provide clean water, planting a tree for shade and food, constructing a school for future generations, or sponsoring an orphan to provide a child with a brighter future, your gift ensures their legacy lives on through every life touched.
You can mention the name of your loved one in the “Remarks” field under Section 4 (“Enter Your Personal Details”) of the donation form to make the contribution on their behalf as a meaningful act of Sadaqah Jariyah.

A man said to the Prophet (ﷺ), “My mother died suddenly and I thought that if she had lived she would have given alms. So, if I give alms now on her behalf, will she get the reward?” The Prophet (ﷺ) replied in the affirmative.

Your Sadaqah Jariyah donation supports projects that continue benefiting people for many years.
Unlike one-time charity, Sadaqah Jariyah focuses on sustainable solutions. For example:
Because these initiatives create lasting infrastructure, your Sadaqah Jariyah generates continuous benefit. As long as people use the well, learn in the school, or live in the home you helped build, your good deed continues to have an impact.
This long-term social effect is what makes Sadaqah Jariyah a powerful form of charity in Islam.
Donating Sadaqah Jariyah through Barakah Charity UK ensures that your contribution is implemented responsibly, transparently, and with lasting impact in people’s lives.
